Often you may not feel like loading the whole XDA Portal page to see if there are any new posts. Its even more disappointing if you are on a limited plan and even after loading the whole page, there are no new posts to enjoy and you regret doing it since the Portal page is extremely big.

This happens pretty frequently with me so I made this alternative light weight app to keep up with the latest news from the XDA Portal.

This app relies on the RSS Feed provided by XDA. I have mainly focused on what users want with no unnecessary features.

Features:
Quote:

  • Loads image and text in both the lists and the detailed view.
  • Loads feeds by asynctask. No heavy load on main UI.
  • 10 latest posts from the Portal.
  • Ability to swipe through detail view to go on to the next feed.
  • Offline reading.
  • Complete Holo UI.
  • 4 inbuilt themes to choose from.
  • Live preview of new theme directly on screen. No need to restart every time to select your choice.
  • Cached images.
  • Allows copying directly.

Note:
Quote:

Restart of app is need for applying the full theme.

I have not excluded any important feature in the free version. The Pro version exists only if someone wants to help support my work. Only a few extra features are included in the Pro version.

Pro Features:
Quote:

  • Get 12 inbuilt themes.
  • Ability to switch to full screen.
  • Ability to use expanded mode removing the StatusBar and the ActionBar.

I would love to have feedback and improve upon this.

Note:

In case you are upgrading to the pro version, clean the cache and data from System Settings to avoid the themes from messing up.

(Thanks @eduardo_b)

Its working nicely.

What I would like to see in future updates is to read top ten posts from topics chosen from forum. For example .. Top Ten posts from Androids apps. If I find the post interesting and would like to post some reply, then a link should be able to take me to the forum.

I thought about this before too, but unfortunately XDA does not have RSS Feeds for separate forums. If you do find separate feeds for separate forums, then tell me and I'll add it too.
