Default Strange IMEI

Hi,
I purchased my QTEK 9100 in Hong Kong a few weeks ago, and today I was trying to guess on which web site to register.
I used the IMEI to find out the origin... My IMEI is supposed to be a I-Mate KJAM sold in UK.

My device has a QTEK logo, came in a QTEK box, with QTEK manuals, etc... Moreover the power adapter is continental Europe and not UK...

I would be interested in knowing:
1. Is it easy to change IMEI ?
2. Are there any other QTek with bad IMEI around
3. How to get more infos on my phone....

To check your IMEI/Vendor:

Thanks for any help on finding where my phone comes from....

same here
Mobile equipment brand / model i-Mate K-JAM
GSM Implementation Phase 2/2+
Country of Approval United Kingdom
IMEI issued by British Approvals Board of Telecommunications (BABT)

yet mines a qtek brand same with box and what not and it does not register on imates website as the imei supposedly is not imate standard.

weird... but changing imei's is illegal and not the easiest of jobs!

Hi,

that system seems not to be very reliable.
It shows the same with my IMEI and my device is a original T-Mobile Germany MDAc. Bought in Germay in an original T-Mobile Shop, not online an not in other countries.

Greetz,

This IMEI number seems to be correct, but we do not have any information on this specific handset. Please add the missing information below.

Checked 6 different devices.
Country of approval is always UK
And it treats ALL HTC devices as I-mate.

Could it be possible that this company are collecting IMEI-numbers?
Is it possible to use these in a unlegel way?

I entered the IMEI Number of my MDA Vario, Ericsson T65 and T100.. this 3 devices seem to be from the UK!

My Ericsson T39m´s IMEI is assumed by: Cetecom GmbH in Germany!

After searching the web for a while I found the following (scarce) information:
BABT in UK seems to be the main organization in charge of allocating IMEI number in Europe.
The first two digits of the IMEI corresponds to the organization allocating the number.
This explains why we all got numbers from UK.
This also means that there is no way to know in which country the product was supposed to be sold...

The best way to do so would be to contact QTEK with the S/N (or IMEI) of the device and ask them. But who is QTEK ?
