Hi, i'm in the uk (if that helps anyone)

Probably a very basic question.... but does anyone know what i should do, my mum is giving me her XDA2 I in a swap for my razr, but my razr is on fresh (a carphone warehouse own tarrif) these cards usually work in anything but fro some reason when i put it in my mums phone it says

"Network is locked, please input unlock code"

i was just wondering what i should do, any help would be great, and my mum has had other peoples sims in her phone before from different providers working fine.

also, if i dont want to hack it or buy software for it can i just contact my supplier and ask them for a code?
