It's not "stock" in the sense that Motorola stock ROMs use f2fs for /data, but GPE uses EXT4. Custom stock kernels require f2fs to boot. You can use custom stock kernels with GPE, provided you have formatted /data to f2fs.
To clarify:
1) Format /data to f2fs (if not already)
2) Flash GPE ROM and immediately flash custom stock kernel
2) Flash GPE ROM and immediately flash custom stock kernel
Nope. Only the links from OP is for KitKat.
Ive used this kernel on stock 5.0.2 and it was amazing!
Now im on cm12.1 tho.
Your kernel update has been working very well so far, actually it has just what is necessary, like an upgraded version of stock kernen with a few more features. Have you consider update it with the latest faux updates and motorola sources?
Battery drain on xt1028
Tried the 14m kernel for the past week on a boost mobile moto g flashed to verizon to use on pageplus and was getting massive battery drain. 13m kernel and stock kernel do not have this problem. Not sure what it could be, but if anyone isn't getting the battey life they expect on a cdma variant with 14m, it's worth trying another kernel.
edit: btw, currently using the 13m kernel. Only mod to the kernel is a script to run kcal control, fiops scheduler, and 256k buffer size. Could not ask for better battery life and performance.

What is a Hybrid?
Hybrid kernel means the core although still has the 3.4.0 kernel label, it has incorporated many advanced features available only on Linux 3.8+ and beyond. I have backported many of those advanced features for Linux 3.4, hence the name hybrid!

Flash via Fastboot instructions:
1. Connect device to PC via USB
2. extract xxx.zip and go to extracted folder
3. adb push xxx.zip /sdcard/.
4. adb reboot bootloader
5. fastboot flash boot boot.img
6. fastboot reboot
7. use root explorer or ES explorer /w root, extract xxx.zip
8. copy modules/ folder to /system/lib/modules/

1.4 GHz is normal, 1.6 is reserved for the highest grade A7 chips, 1.2 is underclocked by Moto so it won't compete with Moto X's dual core.
1.2 GHz is a marketing frequency and nothing more. Asus padphone mini uses the same chip and is 1.4 GHz stock because they don't need to worry about cannibalization of their more expensive product.
Moto X IMHO is OVERPRICED for a dual core when competing with the likes of Nexus 5, SGS 4, HTC One etc.
Moto G is simply an AMAZING phone for the price point. The only phone with better price/performance ratio is Nexus 5. Moto G to me is Nexus 5 mini, that's how I think of it.
