Default WiFi woes

I'm moving over slowly from my iPAQ to my new wizard (Vario), which on the whole I'm quite happy with, except for the wifi manager.

Is there a way to get it to just run a scan, so you can see all available SSID's and chanels? I was at a motorway services today, my ipaq picked up 3 diffrent wifi SSID's on diffrent chanels. But my Vario only picked up the T-Mobile SSID, and locked onto that.

I like having the wifi, but not if its only going to let me access T-Mobile hotspots.
Still a noob, so be gental...

HTC Wizard: MDA Vario (UK)
ROM ver: 1.6.2.4 WWE (15/11/05)
ExtROM ver: 1.6.2.105
Radio ver: 01.12.10
Protocol ver: 4.0.13.23
OS: 5.1.70 (build 14409.1.1.2)

It depends of what do You have...
Cab file must be copied to Phone and tap on it,
Exe file has to be installed from Activesync.
