Is there any way to change the resolution of the phone without changing rom?

This phone is android 4.1

If you need a program that could change the resolutions of games, there's GLTools. Of course you need root, but it works on our device. Remember that some games will act up if you give them a low resolution environment though (best example is Sonic Racing Transformed; absolutely unplayable at lower resolutions achieved by GLTools).

Its free here on XDA, but otherwise paid on Google Play.
