How do users type when viewing in Portrait or Landscape mode while holding the device? I can't do thumb-typing since the device is too wide even on Portrait mode.

I personally use this one, but you may find another on the play store.

I peck with the stylus. I use handwriting recognition 90% of the time.

I swipe using my 9" right thumb.

Seriously, I'm using the floating KB for now.

i switched to that a while back since it's more responsive than the stock samsung kb and far more customizable.

there's a kb switch app in the thems & apps section that allows you to automatically switch to the stock when you pull out the spen so you can still have hw recognition.

SwiftKey works awesome. It's split for thumb typing on my tabs, plus you get an excellent predictive word engine. And some other stats to check out attached.

By "floating KB", do you mean a very small keyboard on the screen? I came across it while testing the device in a store.
I found the keys a bit too small.

The Floating Keyboard's great. You can use the swipe feature with S Pen and it's probably the fastest method of text entry. The only downside is that you have to move it around to keep it from covering content you're looking at or text entry boxes.
