Default Tornado - notifications!

I can confirm after a few day's testing that MS Direct Push with the i-Mate SP5i works very well, and delivers a Blackberry experience but without the (considerable) embuggerance and expense of BES, being tied into an operator (boo hiss) and their somewhat closed device environment... but then I noticed something about my new SmartPhone that seems a somewhat annoying oversight by HTC, or at least an oversight on my part...

There is no VISUAL notification on the SP5i to indicate a new email (such as the network service LED flashing Amber like on the PDA's...) This means that if you don't hear the audible alert first time round, or you need it totally silent in a meeting, or you step away from you phone, you're likely to miss a message. This causes a tendency to have to keep checking the device, which kind of defeats the purpose of Direct Push. Why didn't HTC just look at a Blackberry and put a BIG RED LED on the top edge of the device? Then you can see it both when it's in your top pocket or on your belt.

Does anyone know of an app or a registry tweak that could change the LED to red/flashing red upon receipt of a message, as they seem to have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory for the sake of a few pence worth of electronics component.

Try Automatic Keylock which can be found here.

Amongst lots of features it has the ability to flash the green light faster when there is a message waiting. In addition it can flash the screen, play a sound at regular intervals. Works well but needs a bit of patience to install because you have to unlock the phone for applications before it will install.
Instructions on how to do this can be found here:
