I'm new to android devices and rooting in general. I tried both pwnmymoto and rockmymoto.
PwnMyMoto gives me an Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_SHARED_USER_INCOMPATIBLE] error when trying to install it with adb.
With RockMyMoto i get a "unable to locate class 'RockMyMoto'" error when using "dalvikvm -cp /sdcard/RockMyMoto.jar RockMyMoto". I pushed both the su file and the .jar file and didn't get any errors, don't see the files on the sd card either though.
What could i be doing wrong?
You have a Droid RAZR Maxx, which is a phone that's 2 generations old. The latest phone generation is the Droid Ultra / Droid Maxx with no "RAZR". You should have noticed that your model number XT910 does not match the model number of the Ultra/Maxx, XT1080(m). Or that your Android version 4.0.4 is Ice Cream Sandwich, which is 2 major releases older than KitKat, which is what the Droid Ultra is running now. 4.0.4 is not the same as 4.4.0.
Also, what? You *recently* bought a phone that was released 2 years ago instead of the latest? You could've at least gone for the last-gen RAZR Maxx HD... At least that's slightly more modern...
