Hi,
I was just given a Epic 4G to replace my broke Evo3D to use until I find a new phone that I like.

The Epic has Gingerbread on it, and I just can't go back to that.

So I've been trying to view this forum to see what can be done, the answer appears to be Root the phone and install a different ROM

I found this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798067

But before I begin, is everything there still valid and current? While I was reading the forum, I cam across 100 page threads that would be clsoed because new ways of doing things. I've never rooted before, so want to make sure I'm going about it the right way.

Once I get it rooted, what has been the most stable ROM for the epic?

Thanks

Nah...Old thread is old. Use this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2006687. I am a little familiar with the OP

And if you are looking for something beyond Gingerbread you will have to go for something like CM. The most stable will always be those based on stock that the phone came with, which is GB based. Read through the last 10 pages or so of each ROM because there is no such thing otherwise for best or most stable...it is all user preference.

Thanks!
I'll look that over tomorrow and hopefully give this a shot.

When you say 'CM' you mean this right?

Chris

That's CM10.2. We have everything from CM7 (Android 2.3), 9, 10, 10.1, 10.2 to even 11 (Android 4.4, unusable yet).
