Hi, I recently bought a Moto G 8gb, Unlocked and rooted it, but when i try to install new KK 4.4.2 it shows "error" on reboot, then "software update failed" when booted.

Tried Factory reset, still the same thing.

When I unlocked this is what was shown...

Quote:

(bootloader) Unlock completed! Wait to reboot

FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))
finished. total time: 23.844s

That's the only thing that is questionable for me, the rest went without a hitch, I verified root access with Root Checker.

Everything is working fine and seems to be as it should be, just refuses to install update.

Any tips or pointers ??

Stock recovery and any system files updated by OTA need to be stock as well.

Search xda as threads already cover this.

Ah right , I see, I need to restore stock to "unroot" the phone, update to 4.4.2 then re-root.....getting there slowly

thanks for the advice.
