There's quite a few 3rd party email clients on the play store. Here's the one I use:
Just did a quick push speed test with K-@ Mail vs stock. K-@ Mail near instant whilst stock was about 5 seconds slower.
Things I like about K-@ Mail would be:
-faster load times, both mail list and individual emails.
-bettery battery life(YMMV)
- ability to manually sync emails with sync quicksetting off.
-pull down email window. You can read an email and pull down from the top to reveal your mail list. So you don't have to leave the email your reading to see any new mail.
-general speed of the app.
-with push enabled, mail will both push and check manually every 24 mins.
Should mention I'm not affliated to K-@Mail in any way. There are other good apps out there, I'm just stoked with what I use.
