making those pesky snes roms work

I was wondering if anyone had any luck getting specific snes roms to work. The game I am having trouble with is Secret of Mana 2.

It loads, gets to the title screen, then after i hit start, it goes to and stays black. This happens with a few games, but most work just fine. However, this is the game I am most interested in playing =p.

I am running the snes9xj4u on the tmobile mda. Any suggestions or solutions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
