Default [Q] Verizon OTH KitKat update

My Experience:
I received the update notice on my rooted Razr Maxx HD and after putting it off a week or so I decided to roll the dice.
I use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, I backed up the rooting then unrooted the phone.
I then started the update.
The phone, rather quickly, rebooted and promptly hung at the red Motorola logo.
After trying a bunch of resets (power and volume keys) I decided it was bricked.
Doing a bunch of googling I found the House Of Moto, thank God.
After following the HOM instructions I was able to get the phone back up and running with Kit Kat 4.4.2.
However I am no longer rooted and Voodoo OTH Rootkeeper no longer shows a “restore root” button.
I guess Voodo Rootkeeper doesn’t work after upgrading to 4.4.2?
I would welcome and advice or criticism on if I did anything wrong.

There's no way to root on 4.4.2 unless you have an unlocked bootloader. Voodoo does not work for maintaining it across the OTA.

Also, the description in Google Play store states Voodoo root keeper doesn't work under kit kat.

you didnt read up about kk and voodoo thoroughly before you started.
there is probably 60 dozen post stating you can not be rooted or have been rooted in any way before taking the update or it will fail. you would have also found that there is no way to preserve root whatsoever going from jb to kk.

it has been said many times, but few ever listen. read, read again, then read some more.
be proactive, not reactive, you will have far less problems in the long run.

Show some appreciation to those who have helped you by using the Thanks button!!
