Guide for AOSP / CM / AOKP / Original TW-based Roms, every Stock-ROM with root, nearly every Custom Rom

Works on:
  • Samsung Galaxy S4
  • Samsung Galaxy S3
  • Samsung Galaxy S2
  • Samsung Galaxy Note
  • LG 2
  • Sony Xperia
  • HTC One
  • nearly every other Android based Device incl Tablet`s with Android Jelly-Bean or KitKat

One of the most annoying things is the battery consumption of our devices. There are so many Apps in Play Store but most of them are " a Fairy tale"..
There are different ways to save battery. you could under volt your cpu, disable mobile date.. disable synch ect pp...Since 2010 i play around with different Android devices and here is an easy way to save battery. My way will automatic change to the best settings WITHOUT any undervolting, CPU-Tweaks and you will always be able to send and receive data.. I tried different setups, while normal use.

My definition of normal use:

Samsung Galaxy S4

30h of Power ( Mahdi 01/11 KitKat Rom ART active, KT-Kernel without any tweak)
  • GPS-Navigation with Google Maps for 42Min
  • Calls about 58:35 Min
  • Whatsapp online (all the time)
  • FB Messanger Push on
  • FB
  • Kaiten Mail push active (wrote some Mails)
  • 13 SMS sent
  • Audiobook via PowerAmp 120 min
  • Screen on for 5h
  • Location-Sevice and Data always on

76h of Power ( Mahdi 01/06 KitKat Rom ART active, KT-Kernel without any tweak)
  • nearly the same use
  • with "automatic Airplane-Mode from 22:30h - 9h

If you follow the steps your phone will:
  • Switch GPS on if you need it and turn it off
  • turns HSDPA+ / LTE on when you are not connected to an WIFI-Network and you turn the screen on
  • Switch HSDPA+ / LTE to 2G when your Screen is off
  • turn the screen off when you are not looking at the screen
  • turn the Screen off when you close the S-Cover ( Samsung Galaxy S4 on EVERY ROM)
  • turn WIFI on if you nearby a known WLAN-Station and off when you are leaving the location ( no matter how many "known" networks with automatic localization " Cell")
  • switch to 2G and turn of mobile Date if you connected to any WLAN
  • close apps when screen turns off ( FB or any other app.. its up to you)

before we start you need:
  1. Jelly-Bean 4+ or KitKat ROM 4.4+
  2. Samsung Galaxy S4 ( don't matter wich version) or any other Android Device
  3. root ( custom rom is not nessesery but will make some things easier, i prefer Mahdi with KT-Kernel)
  4. Tasker ( Play Store " 2,99$ ")
  5. Lux ( Play Store " 3,80$" )
  6. Hold Screen on ( Play Store )
  7. Greenify root
  8. Securesettings ( Play Store " free" )
  9. F-Droid ( alternativ store "free") DOWNLOAD LINK
  10. Hal Monitor ( F-Droid Store "free" )
  11. Wifi-Matic ( F-Droid Store "free" )
  12. Automatic 2G Toggle for non CM /AOSP/.. ROM ( e.g. Touchwiz, Xperia, Google,...) LINK XDA

Guide for CM / AOSP ROM

2. search Hal Monitor in F-Droid and install it. It will bring back the S-View Feature and helps saving power ( only Samsung Galaxy S4 )
3. search Wifi-Matic in F-Droid store an install it. It will recordnice when you enter or leave locations with known WLAN stations, and enable/disable WLAN ( works great)
4. search Secure Settings in Play Store an install. When you are on KitKat-Rom use " Helper Alternative ( 4.1+)" otherwise " Secure Settings Helper"
5. search Tasker in Play Store and install
6. search Lux Auto Brightness in Play Store and install
7. search Hold Screen on in Play Store and install ( if u want the "smart-stay-Feature" screen turning of when you don't look at your display)

d) if the Screen turns off, Airplane-Mode is NOT ENABLED and you are NOT in a call,.. HSDPA will switch to 2G ( mobile data stays on fore mails, whatsapp, fb ect...)
e) if you turn the Screen on, HSDPA will switch to on
e) automatic Airplane-Mode between a specified time e.g. form 3 to 9

If you root your S4 and install Security Settings and install the "Helper" you will be able to switch between 3g/ 2g.. via Tasker...If you want i will make a little guide with screenshoots..
