Can anyone direct me into the thread that shows step by step how to add a custom recovery , root and install a custom rom on the stock Android 4.4.2 rom..I haven't installed roms on xda in a while ...so im kinda out of the loop and confused on what I need to do ..thanks

Odin your preferred recovery, reboot to recovery, wipe, and flash your custom ROM.. That's it.. And you can make a nandroid before if you choose to as well.. Your thread says rooting but you talk about installing a custom ROM, for rooting I was gonna suggest cf-auto root or saferoot, but its not needed

after rooting, what is a good recovery to install and good rom that gives good battery life to install? Thanks.

I'm using clockworkmod for a custom recovery, and Insane Kitkat as my rom. Battery life is very good.

this is how to root after you root use goo manager from the market to install open custom recovery
