Default Updating to Android 4.3 without wiping?

Hey guys, so my buddy has a rooted tmo galaxy s4 currently on Android 4.2. he just got a Galaxy Gear, so he wants to update to Android 4.3. however, he doesn't want to wipe anything (or try not to) in order to upgrade to Android that possible?
I tried Triangle Away and resetted it in an attempt to trick the OTA update, but it's not working...any help is appreciated!

If on a custom rom /root it may not be possible without boot loops, if on stock /rooted with no mods you can update without wipe.
I flashed from stock /rooted 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 Fenny's stock /rom without wiping with no problems, it is also pre-rooted, just had to delete one super user.
