Hi Community,

Here's a place for general discussion and information sharing amongst the G900I (or other) Australian users.

Firmwares for G900I:

http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1...ode=0#firmware

Root Guide & Method:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2699648

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2696537

Edit the G900I dock (if rooted):

Open the /system/csc/others.xml file and change TRUE to FALSE on the following line:

<CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode> TRUE</CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode>

To enable gallery auto rotate, do the following in the same others.xml file

"<CscFeature_Gallery_AddAutoRotationIcon>TRUE</CscFeature_Gallery_AddAutoRotationIcon>" and change TRUE to FALSE.

Save your changes, reboot

Please keep discussions clean, informative and relevant.

I Got The White S5 from telstra.... does anyone else experence an issue where the wifi wont turn on? After a while of having wifi ln it would turn off and I wouldnt be able to turn it back on without a reboot... when the phone reboots bluetooth is automaticly turned off along with wifi.... when the issue was happening before rebooting the data icon for 4g also disappears but I still have data sometimes slow as if I am connected to my internet which has been slowed....

This has only happened to me one time since I got my GS5, my wifi button was greyed out and i couldn't switch it on or off but when I rebooted it never happened again. You may just have to wait for the telstra update to see if it gets fixed.

quick question...
im thinking of flashing from the telstra rom to the stock Australian rom (u know XSA...) from past experence i flashed kitkat onto my note 3 and rooted and installed wanam exposed on it so that i could get updates while it was rooted but even when the firmware i was using was updated i still couldnt get an OTA update for it.... i had even tried wiping and starting again with the rom without rooting and with stock recovery on it and i still couldnt do an ota update, now my question is.... if i install the XSA firmware onto my S5 from the telstra firmware will i run into the same issue? i plan to remain on stock rom and i do not plan to root my phone.

thanks for any help

I've updated to the taiwan rom, it much better and doesn't have all the restrictions that the stock australian xsa has.
i can recommend it, to stay stock, but have the restrictions removed.

What are the restrictions other than the dock icons being locked ? I did see a work around for those, but not the actuall app draw icon in the dock.

i couldn't unlock the dock unless i used another launcher or rooted my phone which I'm unwilling to do.
but in the taiwan rom its unlocked by default.
camera shutter sound can't be turned off on xsa
usb3 is disabled on xsa
auto rotate in gallery doesn't work on xsa
camera icon on the lock screen is disabled on xsa
internet calling accounts disabled on xsa

I'm new to Samsung, had a rooted Sony Xperia X10, then a rooted HTC One X, and have flashed many custom Roms before. Still a little unsure about Touchwiz, the whole locked dock thing. Will be getting my S5 from Virgin Mobile in the next few days and will hold out from rooting initially. Will look to see what touchwiz can do, but in the interim if Touchwiz does get too much for me, will move to either Nova or Google Launcher until I root and start looking at custom Roms which will offer more flexibility.

Hey guys. New to forum and android having moved over from iphone to S5. Love the phone, no issues at all so far apart from all the Telstra crap.
I can recommend Alliance ROM - so far is working fantastically and has improved my battery life significantly (as well as getting camera widget on lockscreen and generally looking better with custom themes)

if u don't want to root and lose warranty, can i suggest u flash with the taiwan rom, it opens up touchwiz's locked dock, and other things, see me other posts

the minute you root, or flash custom rom, you void the warranty, I'm happy to do that, but not immediately, i want to wait a few months to make sure the phone is all good. I've read some people rooted straight away then found a problem and couldn't get it fixed under warranty.
