Can someone please explain what the widget panel is and where I can find it? I know the swipe from lockscreeen should take me to it but it doesn't take me anywhere that resembles a widget panel. Thanks..

For some reason, HTC's name for a home screen is a "widget panel". You'll also see it referenced in their official help docs and such. My guess is that the translation from the software engineers to the tech manual writers was a little rough.

So in English, swiping to the left will bring you to your main home screen.
