HTC ONE M8 BACKUP AND OTA.ZIP COLLECTION

Welcome to the M8 Stock backup and OTA collection thread, since the HTC One x days, RUUs are almost non existent. The stock backup is a saviour to people who did not make them and wish to return to stock! - I HAVE TAKEN THIS ON FROM @Mr Hofs (thanks for letting me continue this thread mate)

If you made a stock nandroid backup or receive an ota please share it here so users have a place to collect one if they are in need ! If you can't host it at least for a longer period of time i can take over the nandroid backup and host it myself.

POST 1:- STOCK NANDROID BACKUP AND STOCK RECOVERY COLLECTION

POST 2:- OTA.ZIP COLLECTION AND Q&A SECTION

POST 3:- USEFUL LINKS

When you have a stock backup ready you can upload it to MEGA or Android File Host for free :

MEGA

Android File Host

How do i backup the stock HTC recovery ?

Boot the custom recovery, preferably with Philz touch recovery as it will back up the stock recovery for sure, you need the following command to boot it and not flash it over the stock recovery :

fastboot boot recovery_filename.img (this does not work on the latest 3.xx firmwares !!! we need to get the stock recoveries from the OTA files)

Then make a full nandroid backup, the stock recovery is located inside the backup folder

The OTA files can be found in the second post

How do i find the correct backup here ?

perform the following fastboot commands to determine the correct one :

fastboot getvar version-main
fastboot oem readcid
fastboot getvar all (if you post this one please delete the serial and IMEI !)

When the main version is EMPTY you check your CID and go from there, compare the cid and the hboot number :

3.16 hboot = 1.12 / 1.54 software
3.18 hboot = 2.22 software
3.19 hboot = 3.xx software

Take the main version number and CID and check if it exists in the collection below ! You can restore a lower nandroid backup than your main version actually is !!! when you have as example 2.22.401.5 and that's not available you can use a 1.54.401 version for instance, flash back the matching stock recovery and go through all the OTA's again.

Note :

The WWE (World Wide English) nandroid backups have the same main version build numbers. All these nands have the main number that is based on the x.xx.401.xx build and all these CIDS are compatible

HTC__001
HTC__E11
HTC__102
HTC__203
HTC__405
HTC__Y13
HTC__304
HTC__A07
HTC__002
HTC__016
HTC__032
HTC__J15
HTC__M27
HTC__A48
HTC__K18

So if you are looking for a 401 main nandroid backup you can pick one of these CIDs, restore it and flash back the stock recovery then perform OTA if you wish/needed (do NOT relock the bootloader before you have done at least 1 official OTA !!!)

OTA Collection & Q&A (must read!!!!!!!)
OTA ZIP COLLECTION

In this post, i will be maintaining a collection of stock OTAs for various CIDs. Please, if you get an ota file, copy it from the internal memory before you flash and upload it. Please post link to OTA, mention your CID and also the new software number of the OTA. Hopefully with new links being provided by yourselves, we will have an invaluable resource within a few weeks
I will post each link provided below under the relevant CID as and when links are provided.

Firmware zips can be found in the OTA zips and recovery images can be found in the firmware zips

Please report any dead links mentioning me and the contributor of the OTA link in your post. Cheers

Questions & Answers

READ THE CONTENTS BELOW BEFORE POSTING QUESTIONS!!!!!!!! - No support until you do

Q : How do i find the correct info on which stock nandroid i need for my device
A : You perform these fastboot commands to get the needed info

- fastboot getvar all (gives the whole devices info list)
- fastboot getvar version-main (gives only the main version number as output)
- fastboot oem readcid (gives only the CID as output)

Match the main version number and the cid with the nandroid backups and you will have the correct one !

Q : How do i restore the stock nandroid backup
A : In general :

- Place the nandroid backup unpacked on the sdcard of the phone in the right backup folder

* Philz touch uses - Clockworkmod\Backups\
* TWRP uses - TWRP\Backups\ or TWRP/Backups/serialnum/ (replace serialnum with your device's serial number. To have TWRP create the proper directory structure for you, just do a simple backup of just the boot partition and put the backup files in there) thanks to garyd9 for the additional info

- Flash the boot.img or boot.emmc.win file from the nandroid backup
- Make a full wipe in the recovery
- Restore the nandroid backup and reboot

Q : The restored nandroid backup is still rooted but i want to unroot it
A : Download this unsuperuser file and flash it via the custom recovery Thanks to jbeez & SaHiLzZ

Q : Can i apply an official HTC OTA on my stock rooted rom
A : Yes but the system apps (carrier branded apps included) has to be 100% intact

Q : Can i apply an official HTC OTA with a custom recovery
A : No you need your stock recovery (at least one that starts with the same base number)

Q : Are stock recoveries compatible to nandroid backups with other main and cid numbers to install official OTA's
A : At this point i believe so (it was on the hox) but they have to start with the same base

- Example :

stock recovery 1.12.771 is the same as 1.12.401
stock recovery 1.54.401 is the same as 1.54.206

Q : How do i flash a recovery.emmc.win file made by the TWRP recovery
A : you flash it with the following command :

- fastboot flash recovery recovery.emmc.win

Guaranteed method to update from 2.22.401.5 nand to 3.28.401.6 via ota thanks @ahsan64

Ahsan64 wrote this small guide HERE but was closed as it was a offshoot to this thread, nontheless i will politely take this up in this thread.

Thank you @ahsan64

NOTE :

This is ONLY for S-ON International(WWE) with base 2.22.401.xx users ....... If you have S-OFF just flash the 3.xx firmware .

I am seeing lots of people want to update their M8 to 3.28.401.x firmware/software but most of the CID's haven't recieved the official update yet so this guide will do that and counts for ALL these WWE CID's

So here is the solution to get OTA if you are S-ON with main version 2.22.401.xx . Although i tried it on 2.22.401.5 but it should work for all 2.22.401.xx .

Download this nand(official CID Y13) from HERE and restore it using TWRP recovery .Then flash the stock recovery from HERE .

Search for the update it should be available , download, install and enjoy the new software/firmware ......

NOTE :

The list of CID's posted below are all compatible with this small guide to 100% succes of updating the phone to 3.28.401.x

Nice idea mate

Allow me to be the first then:

stock_1.54.401.5_odexed_2014-04-05

MD5: 3662eefd13d583069ff98fc5c31b95e8

ODEXED

OS 1.54.401.5
HBOOT 3.16.0.0000
CID HTC__001
TWRP 2.7.0.3

Just to clarify, I've zipped the backup for ease of upload. Download the zip file, extract the folder that's inside and place that in your TWRP backup folder on your phone (sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/<device id>/), then boot into recovery and choose that backup from the list.

These are not firmwares. But nandroid backups. You push them to sdcard and restore. ONLY use if they match your cid mid..

We can't restore stock recovery with these backups though, could you include stock recovery in the OP with an unlocked boot loader it should be easy to pull it off the phone onto the SD Card. Anyone who wants to go to stock with any of these backups and have full OTA update capability will need stock recovery. Also system partition has to be fully untouched, so no root or anything.

I know that. As soon as i get them and the time i will provide the links. And as additional information.....you can update with root access and an unlocked bootloader as long as the rom is fully stock.

Don't worry i know what i am talking about here

I just want to start collecting because it will be useful in the future. And the people that want to go back to their own stock rom with or without root can do that easily via this thread. So i hope many people will start uploading them !!!
