Default Camera Icon on lockscreen

It appears you can only put icons on the lock screen if the security for the lock screen is set to "swipe" only. I wanted to have instant access to my camera app but still use a pin for my lock screen. How can I do this? If it is a third party app, then which app?

Not.

Because security is pointless if you have a shortcut that bypasses that security.

Not really.

On the iPhone, you can enter the camera from the pin lock screen with a simple click on the camera.
It allows you to to only take photos. You can't enter into the photo album like you can normally this way.

You're only allowed to take photos, to do anything else you need to enter the pin.

This is perfect. Sometimes I want a quick photo without the hassle of entering my pin, then navigating to camera...

I agree. There must be a third party locker that can accommodate this...

On the S3 you can check a dialoge box that adds a swipe-to-unlock-like screen, even if you have pin- or password-lock.
E.g. you grab your phone, press home or power, have your five shortcuts at the bottom and can swipe to activate them. The app loads in the background while you still must enter your password.

Isn't there something similar buried in the Note 3 settings?

I have found no such thing in the settings unfortunately, plus the PIN input pad is always showing when you turn the screen on, ruining my wallpaper. Argh.

Hogwash. This justification only makes sense if it is impossible to set up the phone without a security keyguard.

Since Samsung enables lockscreen information to be displayed only if the user chooses no keyguard, they're simply encouraging people to leave their devices completely unsecured. This "all or nothing" approach is not a defensible security philosophy, it's just plain stupid.

And as already stated, there's no reason why information accessed via a locked screen can't be selective, and configurable based on what the user determines to be sensitive information.

Except for the bit where Apple has a patent on that.
