Default Alter Java VM on SDA

I'm using the tmobile (US) SDA2. I'm wondering if I can change the Java Virtual Machine. The JVM that ships on the default ROM is decent - at best.

For instance, I can run google maps, but I can't edit the font size. It's quite annoying that I have to squint to read the tiny font. I know it's related to the JVM, as my buddy has the 2125 using a different JVM - his fonts are definitly larger.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Ok, I determined that my SDA has the Tao Inent JVM.

Does anyone know if I can make the fonts larger? Especially in GLM?

Thanks!

I found that the new font (upgraded ROM) was just terrible. I resolved this on my handset by going to the following key and renaming it:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tao\intent\conf\sys\fo nt

(So, on my handset, I renamed "font" to "jfont".)

There is another key under sys. I don't remember if I added it, or it was already there. (Sorry, I'm on my Mac, and I don't have the registry backup I created to check.) In any event, here is what I have for the values under that key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tao\intent\conf\sys\ui \midp\vnd\font\

alttextfont
STRING monotype.com,16

labelfont
STRING andale,16,bold

size
STRING 16

stringfont
STRING andale,16

I remember I did this because the updated ROM changed the font size to something so small, it was almost useless for me.

unfortunately, i coulnt find the reg settings =(

using resco, which i'm sure is reading the registry correctly....

FYI - Runtime Version MIDP 2.0:v10.1.7.542

Is there a way I can remove this one and the install a new version?

thanks!!

Which settings aren't there? I'd only be conerned if the first set of settings (the one I said to rename) weren't there.

I may have added the others based on a compare I did with my older ROM's registry settings.

My version is 2.0: v10.1.7.546

It's hard to imagine that they wouldn't be there.

This is weird. I just triple checked - I still dont have those RegKeys..

Hmm. What Rom/Phone are you using? I'm on the stock TMob SDA2.

Thanks!
