Default TyTN Cing. ExtRom question

Does anyone know if migrating the Cingular Ext.Rom from 8125 to TyTN will work?

Most probably it will, but you will lose cingular customizations.
If you don't like it, you can always go back to cingular.

Pof,
Thanks for your answer but you might have misunderstood, I wasnt looking at leaving Cingular, just transfering my existing Cingular extRom to my new TyTN so I can keep use their customization on my new phone.
Thanks

Oh sorry, I didn't read abut the 8125... which HTC device is it? if it's a wm5 you can just get the cingular settings CAB from the extROM and run it on your TyTN.

I got my vodafone spain settings from a cab in Universal ExtROM without problems

Thanks pof,
Its an HTC TyTN. I just got it in the mail at home and want to be sure I understand as much as possible when I move my programs and customizations over from my 8125.

Blues,
I havent done it either, I was going to use the instructions from the wiki (hytn and 8125) on removing and installing the ext.rom.

I will let you know, probably tomorrow since I have to charge the device first.

Thanks

ok, cingular 8125 == htc Wizard. Right?

You can extract the cingular customizations from the ExtRom:

ftp://xda:xda@xda-developers.com/Wiz...lar-ExtROM.zip
ftp://xda:xda@xda-developers.com/Wiz...108-ExtRom.rar

Since it is a WM5, there should be no problem on installing the needed CABs on the TyTN, you just have to know which ones have the operator settings, do not install the rest of the cabs found on the ExtROM.

Hope that helps

Guys...let me know if you get this to work. I wasn't able to get the E icon for edge to work after copying the Cingular Edge .cab files over. It continues to show G for GPRS.

From the Hermes Frequently Asked Questions:

"The reg tweak working for the previous models to show the [E] instead of [G] when you are on the EDGE network is not working on the Hermes "
