A while ago Open Beats of Rage Was Released for Android

The game has mappable controls so I see no reason why the wouldn't work with the Nvidia Shield. Its an awesome game that has been ported to many platforms including the Dreamcast and GP2x.

Interesting, I hadn't heard of this one. I've been hoping Paintown would release a new Android version, but I'm not sure what the development status is on it (they had an android version at one point, but wanted to switch to different underlying libraries to provide better support or something).

I use OpenBOR on shield and I can confirm it works fine. Just grab the last version available which is pretty old but it works fine.
