Default TomTom 5.21 No valid GPS signal ERROR

Hello,

I paired my GlobalSat BT-338 with my 8125 and selected outgoing COM7. I added this to the TomTom "Other Bluetooh" configuration. I get the yellow/black icon to spin but it says "No valid GPS signal!"

When I try to select "Other NMEA GPS" I cannot select COM7 or COM6 (the only ones available on my 8125 outgoing comport setup screen).

I tried emailing GlobalSat but they have not responded as of yet.

Has anyone else overcome this problem?

Jim

No valid signal means that the pairing is okay, just that the gps-unit isn't receiving good enough signals.. did you try it outside?

Default Bluetooth GPS units with TomTom 5.xx

I've managed to pair 4 different GPS units with my Wizard, no problems.

Go into the System Blootooth settings, pair the device and add an outgoing port on COM6 - make sure you UNCHECK the SECURE CONNECTION box...

Then in TomTom, GPS config, select Other Bluetooth Device and then select COM6.

Hope this helps...

First time round your going to have use it outside so it has a clear sight of the sky, once thats achieved it should work even indoors

Default "No Valid GPS Signal!" Problem Conquered!

Thank you for your help with this. I did as you suggested, I chose COM6 and unchecked secure connection. Then I went outside and got 7 full bars! After about a minute or so of still saying "No valid GPS signal!" suddenly they all went blue and data started popping up in the windo. I clicked done and now TomTom works great!

Thank you very much! I never had to set up my HP4705 in this manner. It connected in the house the first time without any problems. It never dawned on me to bring it outside as you suggested.
