Red face [Q] Newb confusion on install Jellybean or KitKat

Greetings...I have a simple question before trying this.

In the Development forum, I read this thread:
[ROM][4.4.2] Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 [1/4/14]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2598051

But in this forum, there are guides to installing custom roms which talk about Odin, etc.

Can I assume that threads in the developers forum assume that the basics of rooting via the threads in this forum have already been accomplished? I read the thread linked above, and I can get to the "install zip from sd card" via the 3 button method on my Fascinate (just purchased this off eBay to use for purposes other than actual phone usage).

I have installed Jellybean on a Nook Color, and have TWRP as recovery method, but I am cautious about doing this on the Samsung.

If there is another RTFM I am missing, feel free to flame, and point me in the right direction (the CyanogenMod official page also mentions a lot of stuff not mentioned in the Unofficial CyanogenMod thread above).

TIA...Eric

Yes, it really does assume being rooted and at least on a cm7 or above version, don't really know why states "if coming from stock"

I recommend following my thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=53235945, to to get you up to a cm10 based ROM,,,
Then follow the instruction in the cm11 thread.
I do recommend you use the 06/04/2014 cm11 from unjustified dev found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=53166395
,,,
including reading about the various issues/non-issues with its kernel, as this one seemed to be a little more particular ( temperamental ) with various fascinate phones.
but once you find what works it is a very nice version of cm11.

.
cheers
