Default [Q] lockscreen questions

Mostly the Sprint Photon Q does what my daughter wants (personally, I prefer the HTC One or GS5); however, there are two things she wants to be able to do, both of which are changes to the lockscreen:
1. show the unread SMS count
2. if a call comes in, don't have it slide one way to accept and the other way to reject. just slide to accept (and maybe reject elsewhere)

Is there some way to do this? I've unlocked/rooted her phone, but I don't want to spend ages trying different ROMs and whatnot. Does anyone know if there's an app (e.g. widgetlocker) or a ROM (CM11 or whatever) that will get her there?

You figured it out yourself, widgetlocker will do exactly what she wants

Thanks for the reply! Will it do both of those things or just the unread count? It would be nice if there were some trial version of widgetlocker.
