Default Newer firmware screw up rooting?

Will newer versions of the stock ROM interfere with rooting on the Z2?

Not familiar with the history of Sony in this regard. Need advice before I buy.

Exploits are used to achieve root. From a security point of view, of course Sony will close such exploits in future firmware updates. Other phone manufacturers do that too.
