Default Hard-SPL, Or Flashing any ROM, and staying Brick-safe

Well... I did it for Hermes, tomorrow I'm doing it for Trinity, this is just here to make sure I get round to it... and to let you folks know it's in the pipeline

According to hermes thread this is simple rip of SSPL bootloader (my appologies to Olipro if it is not). Shuch tool exist for a long time but there are some reasons why it is not released to public. However now I'm forced to do so, use at your own risk. Development of better tool was in progress but now I'm not shure if I wish to continue with it.

Hi, what's the difference between this SPL and the SSPL-TRIN.exe available in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632 ?

Thanks for your contributions . I hope that you are not getting put off by the whole "pay for services" thing that seems to be going on. You are the one that came up with the SSPL utility and we are very grateful. You were the first to make a Trinity ROM change possible without a CID unlock. Keep up the great work it is appreciated.
Matt

This one is bootloader image for flashing in to device, SSPL is the same image wrapped with stuff needed to start it from WinCE.
This is for those users who want SSPL functionality in flashed-in bootloader. Most average users (don't playing dangerous games with flashing probable crap to radio) won't need this.

Technically it is half a rip off: Olipro "backported" your bypass-signature patch to hermes SPL-1.04, but he had to reimplement the "show itself as SuperCID" patch because this on 1.09 just requires a NOP, but the default on 1.04 is to assume CID (remember the CID checking bug in that bootloader?), so implementation is different. The good thing of having it on 1.04 is that it allows to access the radio bootloader and 1.09 doesn't.

I think Olipro released the SPL in the aim of helping, and also because he learned from you and had fun extracting it... this doesn't force you to release the Trin SPL, but I see it as a good thing... can you be more specific on these reasons why this has not to be released?

err... I hope you continue with it, don't want to discourage you on that... you made it possible the best it could ever happen to Hermes & Trinity, and you have all the support and respect of xda-dev community for that. Hope you continue with the development whenever you have time to do it, as you are a very valuable piece of the puzzle here

well, I'd just ripped the Trinity ROM to upload it...

but it's identical to Des's (except the version number) so no worries...

on another note; I think you'll find that I haven't actually released your SPL Des, I still have that on my computer; currently I've only sent it to pof and some guy who intends to play around with it... it's a shame someone has to be so petty as to decide to up and stop development of something just because someone ported their work to an earlier ROM, but if that's the way it's going to be then I guess it means that development will be slower as others are left to pick up the gauntlet
