Default Official ROM from T-Mobile

According to sources inside t-mobile, they plan to release a 3.3 ROM soon and a WM6 rom at the end of the year.

It would be nice if it was true, but I don't believe it. If their plan is to keep the Universal in circulation as a low priced device to compete with the NEWER MODELS they will get, then we might have a chance of seing a new ROM from them, I hope...Everyone cross their fingers.

In October last year I was in Germany, Munich ( some weaks late, I know.. Oktoberfest.. ) , and tried to find an Universal. Nothing, not one available, they told me it was a very old device... (well I bought mine in November he he he)

I don't think there will be an update.

Since there hasn't really been a proper replacement for the Universal it would make sense to keep it up to date. Before someone mentions the Ameo, I don't really consider it to be a replacement for the universal, too big and you can't even use it as a phone without a headset. The universal is pushing the boundaries being something you can call a phone as it is, but at least you can hold it up to your ear and talk into it.

The only replacement I can see that will replace the Universal is the IMate Ultimate 7150: http://www.gsmarena.com/i_mate_ultimate_7150-1882.php

Might end up being a carrier replacement, but not a manufacturer one, HTC don't make it. In the past HTC have always seemed to release either completely new products or upgrades to their existing lines, they surely can't think that the Athena/Ameo is an upgrade for the universal.

Some people dont understand that T-Mobile is in the telecom business and not in the PDA business.

They make money from you USING the Universal, not by selling you a new device.
