Arrow vp3G's WM6 v2.0 -- [RTM & Hybrid builds] -- [Cingular/AT&T optimized]

This WM6 ROM for Hermes is brought to you in two variants:

v2.0 "RTM" (CE 5.2.1238 | Build 17745.0.2.3): Based on Schap's 3.30b WWE RTM build.

v2.0h "Hybrid" (CE 5.2.1238 | Build 17913.0.3.0): For those who feel the "RTM" is a step backward, v2.0h comes to the rescue -- a reprise of my renowned v1.0 making it's resurgence with the Hermes RTM CE (XIP grafting by yours truly), freshened apps, 4gb SDHC support, and the v2.0 "look and feel".

Which version should you flash? My recommendation would be to try the "RTM" first unless you're a heavy Bluetooth hands-free user, in which case I'd recommend heading straight for the "Hybrid". Why? Well, some folks feel as if M$ really loused up the BT stack in the RTM while others have not experienced any problems whatsoever. Personally, I'm still on the fence with regard to the RTM... the hands-free does seem to be a bit quirky in the RTM, but the A2DP support is a solid as ever. Repeated cycling of the BT radio also seems to be a bit unpredictable with the RTM.

Bottom line: You decide. For all intents and purposes the ROMs are functionally identical, it's just their internals that differ a bit.

NOTE: These ROMs are Cingular/AT&T optimized. If you're NOT a Cingular/AT&T subscriber, you can still install either variant and simply soft-reset as soon as the customization dialog appears to bypass all things Cingular/AT&T. Then manually perform the setup for your carrier.

Notable Features (apply to both variants, except where noted):
  • OS + splash screens
  • BIG Storage + 4mb Page Pool (~54mb free Storage, ~30mb free Program)
  • Re-tuned performance parameters (GLYPHCACHE=16384 + FATFS Cache=Auto)
  • ATI ImageON fix
  • Acquire Date/Time & TZ info from network
  • Schap's 11-button Comm Manager [2.0]
  • OEM 9-button Comm Manager [2.0h] (v2.0 11-button add-on cab available -- post #2)
  • Schap's Vista-like icon treatments, System Tools & Accessories program groups
  • A2DP tweaked for BT stereo listening pleasure (JointStereo & SampleRate)
  • Video calling disabled
  • WM6 sounds enabled
  • Annoying phone sounds disabled (in-call volume adjust, end button)
  • Customer Feedback, AutoUpdate & Catalog removed
  • Abbreviated initial setup
  • Transcriber [2.0h]
  • 4gb SDHC support

Exclamation

Release Notes:
  • Does NOT support BB Connect. Anyone familiar with hex editing should be able to use Moisha's hack on v2.0h. Additional info can be found here.
  • Internet browsing via WiFi or ActiveSync pass-through requires proxy to be disabled (Programs|Proxy Manager).

Known Issues:
  • [07-09] YouTube feeds fail with "failed to find network" message in Streaming Media (PATCH: see attachment #2 below).
  • [06-22] MMS 4.0: MMS-to-E-mail: secondary addresses for contacts are selectable, but not used. 3.5 exhibits the same behavior.

Tweaks & Fixes:
  • RTSP feeds launch RealPlayer instead of Streaming Media: [HKCR\rtsp\Shell\Open\Command](Default)="StreamingPlayer.exe %1"
  • Change 'SMS \ MMS' combined Inbox name: [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS]"FriendlyName"

Attachments on this post:
  • #1 - v2.0 CommManager add-on for v2.0h. Stop CommManager (via Memory applet) before installing!
  • #2 - Streaming Media patch.

Happy days! Your last ROM was the only one I have ever used that I would describe as completely bullet proof.

Happy to see a new one from you - great looking work dude

But I would like to try it with my new Plantronics 590A I just ordered....

And again great work vp3G
