SD card not recognized

After coming from the Hermes, which can be customized practically to your DNA, the Vox, while having an amazing form factor, is driving me a bit batty.

I can't get the microSD card to be recognized for installing programs, storing data or photos, or anything else on the Vox, although I can access the card through my PC when the Vox is connected. The cards are fine, work perfectly well on the Tytn, and I have a new one that's solely for the Vox, in case of Tytn cooties or something highly technical like that.

And is there any way to just turn off the screen, without having to wait for the time-out, which is just a few seconds but can seem forever.
