generally web speed tests are not very helpful, the file it makes you download is too small and some ISPs (and possibly phone providers) may optimise traffic to them. I normally download a 4mb mp3 file from my webspace and time how long it takes.
What is the best (accurate and easy) way to test and measure the speed of the internet connection (3.5G/HSDPA) ?
I've just used Internet Sharing via BT and connected my laptop via 3G. I was actually surprised by speeds, as I've got ~150 KB/s transfer straight away, while Hermes/Vario II couldn't get faster than ~60 KB/s! Network: T-Mobile UK, location: central London (Old Street tube station area).
