Voice capabilities are gone people, they were never there to begin with. Windows Mobile 6 is on the device to serve as a kind of Sideshow for Vista (see hugos video) but more importantly as a platform to access basic info use wireless/bt and hsdpa without all the battery consumption of vista.
I must say after seeing the videos im impressed with this idea and the way Vista/WM6 could work. Especially the seemless switching between the two.
I would be surprised if the Shift was not launched or more highly showcased at GITEX. Imate will be releasing what they have of the ultimate range, it would make no sense for HTC not to be out in force, particularly since most tech websites are reporting the shift will begin shipping 4 weeks after GITEX. Any later and we are right in Q4 which is out of whack with HTCs roadmap for a Q3 launch.
That being said theres alot of speculation surrounding the shift, Hugo one of the few ppl like Steve Balmer who gets to play with this device wasnt very comprehensive in his reviews, and any other "exclusive reviews" tend to be done from behind the glass of the trade shows and prone to misinformation.
The only common things ive seen thus far have been that the devices keyboard is nice and tactile for a change, and that its a solid built device with extra strong hindge mechanisms for its interchangeable modes.
I hope this device lives up to half its expectations, if it does I will be abale to ditch my current high end albeit lousy battery time laptop go back to just a desktop pc with a gloriously large monitor, my shift and a mobile (WM that is).
