Default TouchFlo Cube on Kaiser (well sort of!)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...touch.dll+cube

Post 11 has a 'this cab' hyperlink

I installed it and followed the instructions, and now have the cube by hardware button but can't make it spin with my finger (aaargh!).

I am off to a wedding so can't play more for a few days.

Is there more to it? I would have thought the Kaiser had the correct type of touchscreen to do this, since we have the scroll TouchFlo, which is ironically what's missing here!!

Cheers,

Joe

Just giving this a bump. Is nobody into the cube interface like the Elf (HTC Touch) has?

This, imho, is the app that makes the kaiser the iphone killer for sexiness !

Cheers,

Joe

The "touch ability" of the TyTN II's screen is not as sensitive as the HTC Touch. The touchability is not very good. If you try using your finger to scroll down a web page you will find that you have to apply quite a bit of pressure. Pushing the screen is decent, but finger motion tracking is very poor.

If the hardware is there I really expect cookers here to fix the software response at some point when the Kaiser is more widely available.

While it looks cool to spin the cube by sliding the finger across the screen, wouldn't it be more direct and quick to just hit the D-Pad to spin the cube? After all the TouchCube is there to provide quick access to functions you need most, I found it amusing at watching some reviewer's videos how they have to do a few times to get the cube spin properly. If that is sexy, I have to say it doesn't last

I agree completely, and who wants to smudge over their TFT screen with finger tips anyway, it's not sexy having a TFT screen covered in dirty finger marks and smudges, not in my book anyway

My wife has a iphone, and i hacked it with this really cool menu function where you start your fingerin the corner of the phone from any screen and it pops up a rainbow of icons from which you can scroll right and left to highlight the one you want o activate. It is Super Awesome. The "current' icon your selecting shows up in upper left corner - This screen shot, is jumbled because they are doing it on the main menu page, but you can get this rainbow menu from any application

Also playing with her phone and using the screen commands with fingers you fall quickly in love. It really is light years beyond the traditional, very minority report. its super easy.

If it did 3g, i'd be super tempted to get an iphone, the keyboard is still a deal breaker, but the rest of it is almost that cool.

Just a quick reply to the original post - I installed this on my Kaiser today and it works fine. No performance issues so far (as opposed to what Hermes users are reporting). As to the folks (bchau, philipl) who want to use the D-Pad to move thru the cube, the D-Pad is working just fine for me.

Customization of the cube contents is easier done thru manipulation of the text files directly, rather than using the editor that's in the main web page.

Pretty neat.

Yes I have it working, although on reboot I have experienced the black screen hang reported on that thread.

When you say it's working fine, are you able to spin the cube with your finger on the screen, or is it via the hardware button / D pad.

As an fyi, the D pad doesn't spin it for me, I had to use the button.

Cheers,

Joe

I can spin the cube with my finger and with the d-pad both. Starting the cube with the first touch is hard, but rotating the cube is much easier w/fingers.

Now I have to work on getting the icons to match the apps.
