Error using Hard SPL

I just got my AT&T 8925 last Friday.
I thought I might get rid of all the crap and lockouts that these people have put in the phone, as well as uncripple the phone I hope, but I'm getting the following after I start the hard spl .exe program.
I first get the prompt to make sure that activesync in running. This is true and it shows that the device is synchronized.
I press enter and then get the following:

ERROR: CreateProcess failed with Errorcode = 30123
- UNKNOWNERROR: 0x000075ab
Kaiser JumpSPL is running on your device, please check your device
screen and follow the steps until you see the tri-color screen.
When done hit ENTER to continue...

What could cause this and how do I get around it?
I don't have a jump screen appearing. I gather that is what the create process error is all about.
