Default WM6 Upgrade interrupted?

Hi all.

I have been trying to update the Treo 750 (generic unbranded) to Windows Mobile 6. During the installation process (about 2/3rds of the way through), the screen reverted to "Device Connection Failure". The device was not touched or interrupted in any way. The screen just flicked straight to Device Connection Failed in the wizard.

I clicked try again but to no avail. The PC no longer recognises the Treo (Unknown item in USB and says the device is not recogized or has malfunctioned).

I now have a device that does not work at all. It boots through the Palm screen to the Windows Mobile splash page (which looks like the new WM 6 colours) but then just sticks there. I have done soft and hard resets, left the battery out for 20 mins but nothing happens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

David

Not sue if this will help or not:

My situation was slightly different but with very similar results - 750 did not go past the WM6 splash screen, about 2/3rd through the upgrade. I ran the 750 Recovery Tool and the upgrade completed successfully.

The instructions can be found here: http://www.palm.com/au/support/treo7...overytool.html

(this was with the 3 ROM).

At the moment, the PC won't even recognize the Treo 750 anymore. Rebooted etc but just get "Device Malfunctioned" when I connect the USB. I can't do anything without the device connecting. Any ideas on this?

Went back and did the SD Card method as suggeted. Worked first time so this is obviously the path of least resistance! Thanks to those who responded.

Make sure you have formatted to FAT32 on your sd card. I had the same problem and tried a different 1 gb sd and it worked. Make sure the CHEEIMG. that you copy to your card has the same kb's as the original.
