Disappearing Titan/Mogul Bluetooth Serial Profile
Greetings.
I work for an industrial device company and we use the PPC's as a gateway device to connect our devices to the internet for data transmissions. Our devices require the Bluetooth Serial Port profile in order to function correctly. Most of the WM5 devices included this feature, including the PPC6700 which was our most reliable solution.
However, with the introduction of WM6 and the migration to the 6800 platform, we are seeing the wholesale disappearance of the BT Serial Profile from PPC devices. The default Sprint 6800 image does not have BT serial, which is indicative of every HTC WM6 device we have tested (including the Kaiser). When we have asked the carriers about this problem, we get dumb looks and fingers pointed at HTC and Microsoft for excluding this feature.
In today's sandbox testing, I unlocked a Sprint 6800 and loaded the Telus WM5 image found on the FTP server, and it includes the BT Serial Profile. A workaround was born. (Many thanks to the posters on this forum).
Questions for the experts:
-Offhand, does anyone know of any WM6 devices that have the BT Serial Profile enabled?
-How easy or difficult is this to cook into a WM6 ROM? Has anyone ever to add the BT serial profile back in like this?
-Does anyone have the official Sprint WM5 ROM for the 6800 that was (allegedly) never released?
Thanks, in advance, for any guidance anyone can shed on this subject.
