Default hard reset -> simlock/CID lock

Hi,

Because I was tired waiting on the shift, 2 weeks ago, i bougth a ameo on ebay. The guy I bought it from upgraded the ameo to windows mobile 6 and removed the simlock.

I played a lot with the device and I am very happy with it. I installed software on the device's memory and on the microdrive... and removed some of te software.

A few day's ago the windows mobile started to freeze a lot. I also noticed that quite some items from the settings menu have dissapeared (for example the VGA-out in the system tab is gone).
  • What could be the reason for the items in the system menu to dissapear?
  • When I do a hard reset, will the simlock and CID-lock still be removed... and will the ameo still have the windows mobile 6 operating system?

Thanks a lot,

Bart

Sim-Unlock, CID-Unlock are permanent so they will still be there. that version of WM6 will also be there, however i recommed you flash the latest version from teh athena project

Do you mean the Athena Project Black Dual 3.0 rom?
Is it safe to install it on my Ameo... or is it designed specially for the X7500?

Thanks,
Bart

yes that is what i mean, and it is designed for all Athena's (x7500 and AMEO included) so long as you have hardspl (you do) it is safe

Hi,
i don't understand all this and the xda-wiki doesn't tell anything about CID and Wm6-upgrading.
I own a Hermes, and there the CID-Thingy is a bit different.
If i get a T-Mob MDA Ameo with WM5 (not HTC X7500) with T-Mob CID and i flash Hard-SPL after syncing with AS it is possible to flash every Non-T-Mob WM6-ROM from here (no T-Mob branding)?
I am no T-Mob customer, but i can get a new Ameo which i'd like to run with WM6 and no branding.

Hard-SPL doesn't remove the CID-lock but does it bypass the CID?
Seems pof didn't develop a CID unlock tool, but is it really necessary with Hard-SPL-Athena?

Can i flash a free Radio to the Ameo too, one old posting says no?

Can i recook a WM6-ROM then (like i do with HTC Hermes) and remove apps and reflash then to the Ameo?

Last question from Non-Athena-owner: Is the Microdrive the main-ROM storage (WM6 on partition) or is the Microdrive only for App-installs and data so if the microdrive doesn't work anymore (headcrash) the device still runs?

once you cid/sim-unlock you can flash any rom here.so you can get an AMEO and flash the PK3.0 rom.

HardSPL is needed to CID/Sim-unlock-from what i understand.although i only did a step 1 from the unlocker because mine was sim unlocked already.it is necessary to cid-unlock in order to flasha new rom.

by flash radio,do you mean radio rom to improve signal?then yes...if its about the radio chip for fm/am signals, then no one cracked it yet.

once a kitchen is released for the athena then yes.

the microdrive can be used for storage only or programs or both.i install all my programs on device since theres so much room anyway and just incase my microdrive stops working,my programs still work.i put all my music, movies and pictures,manga....etc on my microdrive..i use the miniSD for install application cabs,so if i flash a new rom all my programs i want is ready to install.hope this helps
