VoIP on Treo 750?

Hi all

I have upgraded my Treo 750 to WM6, but there is not much information about setting up voip on it. I don't know if it is possible, or how to do it.
Antone has more details about it? is it possible? not possible? why?

Just use the latest mobile version of skype. Download and install to your mobile and "Bingo" you're on. No configuration needed.

OK, I know what VOIP is, and I understand why you would use it on your home computer. However, I don't understand why would you want to use it on your phone. Is it strictly for those who do a lot of international calling ?? I have the smallest amount of minutes available and have never used them all. (I'm sure others have different uses). But isn't it cheaper/ easier to just add minutes to an existing plan rather than paying for the data plan instead??
Just trying to educate myself a little bit more each day.............

generally VOiP refers to calls over a wifi network, but i would think that there would still be some services that would work just as well provided that you have signal for your cell, so I would assume they would work. Personally the skype setup I think is easiest if you can get folks on there then you can skip all the headaches, other wise it's really dependent on what voip program you are planning on using for your treo, I know when I had my hermes I had some custom software from Schap that allowed an easy setup for VOiP although it wasn't compatible with all ROMs, if anything I suppose you could pop over there and see if it would be compatible or not.

Just to clarfy, I live in Brazil where we have a little cartel of phone companies, so peole pay around US$ 0,75 and US$ 0,20 per minute of conversation. nice isn't it?
The low cost of VoIP offsets the data plan cost in the long run. besides, with voip I dont have to pay extra for long distance and international calls.
As for skype, it's not the cheapest oe out there, and it's not SIP-based. it's way more expensive than other VoIP providers out here.

Dont suppose anyone has found a good way of using WM6's built in SIP for VOIP on the Treo 750?

Call me a heretic, but I have bought a N95-3, so currently I own 2 WM-based devices and 1 S60-based one.
Let me tell you, S60 'jut works'. It has no touchscreen, but it also has gobs of apps (games including), either Symbian or Java based.
What I want to do is simple:
Get a 3G phone with an unlimited data plan, and use 3G to make cals using 3G (and WiFi). I will have internet 'anywhere', and cheap phone calls.

Treo doesn't have WiFi. oh, well... it still has 3G. Although last time I read, Windows Mobile's VoIP was 'maimed', so it wouldn't work on 3G, only WiFi...
It's M$ doing concessions to the cell phone operators at work...

I hope this changes soon. WM is powerful, but not nearly as user-friendly as S60 so far. Yeah, I hope WM7 arrives soon, cause it's supposed to come with new usability guidelines, new apps (in theory) will be much more useable with one hand, and finger touch. But that's a long time away in the future...

I was considering a TyTN 2 or Touch Cruise, but with this video driver bug, I considered using S60 again. And it is really painless to set up, browse the web, use 3G and set up voip. The VoIP call quality was pretty good too.

If anyone knows of a solution for WM's VoIP, or a good 3rd party SIP client (not skype), I'd like to hear about...

Anyone had any luck using VoIP on a Treo?
