Polaris Project Rom Documention

Hi everyone,

We would like to show what we currently have planned for the first polaris cooked rom. If u would like to change or add/remove please reply with your suggestions. If we can't decide on a specific item then we will create a poll.


BASE ROM (meaning both ROMs will have the following in common)

Items Removed:

- customer feedback
- auto update
- catalog
- sqm
- guava bubbles and windows mobile green
- ring-vision and ring-windowsmobile
- nature video
- Alouette.mid,arial,ding,dogbark,bolero,capri,Die Zauberflote,Flight of the bumblebee,halloween,happy,London Bridge, Mozart Alla Turca, Pizzi-cato Polka, Pour Elise, ringer 1-4, telephone ring 1-3, trout, x-mas song
- ia zip
- cyberon voice speed dial
- htc task mananger aka x button

Items Changed/Added/Upgraded:

- .netcf upgraded to 3.5
- internet explorer search uses google
- live search today plugin uses google
- added action screen
- added flash lite player
- added home sprint plugin
- added pk programs(dotfred taskmananger+regedit,file dialog changer, gloss black bars, magic ss, mmcmobilefinder, mobilesecretary,nbstatce,putty, sms notifier, and vncview)
- added pocket rar
- added softkey app
- added tcpmp 0.81
- added total commander
- added vxUtil
- added WkTask
- added SRS WOW HD
- added touch calculator skin
- added voice command build 18533(might be in test builds only)
- added own customizations(own tsk, -PK text after build numbers)
- added own reg edits xml(lunar calendar, in call volume change sounds removed, basehue 158, own speed tweaks, long name prefix= 3G, time from newtwork, auto selection of bands, own best a2dp settings, gpsphoto enabled, increase cube fps, increase touchflo sensitivity, changed save path of camera from DCIM to My Documents)

To-Do List:

- add own version in oemversion
- add own welcomehead
- add srs wow hd after alpha rom is tested
- add 5 tab home reg edit after alpha rom is tested for cube/touchflo version
- create non touchflo/cube version after alpha is tested
- add gps photo reg edit after alpha is tested
- add faster cube reg edits after alpha is tested
- add touch calculator after alpha is tested
- add touchflo sensitivity reg edits after alpha is tested
- add reg edit to change camera default path from DCMIN/100Media to My Documents after alpha is tested

ROM#1 (items unique to ROM#1)

- touchflo and touchflo cube included
- 5 tab htc home with contacts tab disabled because of cube having contact side

ROM#2 (items unique to ROM#2)

- no touchflo or touchflo cube
- 6 tab htc home with contacts tab enabled

BTW to do list is really only for me but this is a documention I created for myself to keep track of what i am doing

Let's get your suggestions/recommendations/requests in and keep this thing moving. I love it when we pick up speed!!!

sounds nice to me

maybe some app for the camera?
especially i'm a bit disappointed with the video recording function... the framerate is compareable with Crysis on a 386' system ^^
hope that the video drivers come out soon... (someone needs to kick htc&quallcom's asses)

Oxios apps, is more agree, Hybernate and Close Apps....for add, remove all image stored is unneccessary... thanks

One more crucial (IMHO) addon - Anti-theft s/w

Since I'm the unfortunate (previous) owner of a stolen Artemis I strongly believe that all cookers should include an anti-theft software as part of the cooked ROM(s). There are several pieces of free software out there, even exploiting GPS for tracking down the vicious marauders. I was planning to install a s/w to my device but I kept postponing it for later and later until the unfortunate happened.

I second that! It would really help to push back the numerous thefts of stolen mobile phones!

Could someone tell me, why you would include all the software in the ROM instead of keeping the ROM small and basic, and let everyone install, what they find necessary?

Agree even if I dont have Polaris (yet), I think some "little lite basic" basic ROM with only factory programs in new versions etc or maybe even less programs (without some duplicate or unnecessary ones) with priority on high performance (system tweaks, registry changes or program tweaks) will be also great.

Sometimes "Less is more!" ;)

I don't have a polaris yet, but I've heard that the SMS doesn't have standard emoticons (just like forum emoticons or something) in it. I wonder if you could add those in as well? I think that a lot of people use those, but everybody forgets about it

these are only roms i am working on now. lite roms will come though. im listening to suggestions so keep them coming. once we have a bit more the team will decide what else to add into full. most likely if there are 2 programs on here with same purpose then all ur suggestions will be included.
