My first post:
I have WMwifirouter 1.35, I have a connection issue. I use Thinkpad and connect wireless via ThinkVantage. When I try to connect my WMwifirouter, I get this following message "Unable to connect to the selected wireless network. You may need to configure your system to support the authentication method that is in use. ". When I click Ok, it gives this following message:
"DHCP IP configuration is not supported for adhoc connection. Use static IP configuration."
Computer (With ADSL connection and Windows Vista) -> Xperia X1 (With WMWifiRouter set to 'USB to WiFi') -> Laptop (Accessing internet by getting WiFi signal from my phone.)
I have tried the above documentation article but it still does not resolve my problem.
No, this is used to give other devices that have WiFi access to your phone's data connection. It is NOT to provide WiFi access to your PC!
I'm confused.
I keep falling further and further behind technology.
Here's what I want to do:
I would like to tether my Verizon xv6800 to my laptop when traveling without the added expense of Mobile Broadband Connect. I have a data plan with my phone (required by Verizon for any Smart Phone) but I did not opt for the full package with tethering (Mobile Broadband Connect).
My questions:
1) Will WMWiFirouter do this.
2) Will I be subject to additional Verizon charges, and how would they know?

WMWifiRouter can work on this setup (also install ICSInstall on vx6800!). I have never heard of people actually getting charged for it if they do not have the appropriate plan, but it is a possibility. After all, you are tethering! As for how they would know, it is not very easy to detect, but it is certainly possible if they put some effort into it!

Just to be sure, are you saying that I need both on my phone?
If so do you have a quick link? If not I'll hunt for it w/ Google.
The development has been successful, but the hacking has seemed to cease. With all the individuals that have worked on this project for the developer, no one has a similar setup for free or at least steps to setup the older free versions to utilize the current setup that individuals have helped develop?
I thought that this was what this forum was about.
This is not a shot at the developer in any way, and I don't blame him/her for taking this opportunity and running with it.
Where are those hungry individuals that first began developing this project. Have you been compensated? Is that the reason you are quite on the post? Are you legally bound from making any statements? It would seem that since this program deals with manipulating WM registry settings, it should be easy to replicate the settings without the use of a program. It seemed that ICS Control would have been a nice alternative, but support and product development has stopped.
Is there any one out there who can answer the call of the masses?

XDA Developers was founded by developers, for developers. It is now a valuable resource for people who want to make the most of their mobile devices, from customizing the look and feel to adding new functionality. Are you a developer?
