[INFORMATION]

HTC has missed to include the necessary drivers needed for the Polaris to come to its full potential.

Handhelds affected are the Touch Cruise (POLARIS), TyTN II (KAISER), Touch Dual (NIKI) and the S730 (WINGS) etc., based on the MSM7200 and MSM7500 Qualcomm chipsets. The problem, however, isn't with the chips, but the missing drivers!!!

The engineers and technicians forgot to include the drivers. (That's ridiculous.) Or the company thinks consumers wouldn't notice.

[WHAT TO DO?]

- Contact HTC and let them know you are unhappy about these issues
- Contact your mobile service provider and let them know you are unhappy with these issues
- Contact support.ati.com , as they must have a driver for their own chipsets
- Make videos of the issues
- Sign the petition >> http://www.petitiononline.com/tytn2vid/ << (TYTN2 uses same chipset as POLARIS)
- Spread the word
- Write reviews

[STATUS]

HTC is aware of this problem and 'promised' a significantly performance-change in their WinMo 6.1 upgrade.
htcclassaction.org has successfully developed a 3D driver for the kaiser yet.
A port of these 3D drivers from the KAISER to the POLARIS are in progress by the Polaris Project P3D
>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426314 <<

**UPDATE**28/09/08
First release of the ported drivers, provided by the Polaris Project P3D
Get it here as .cab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430741

Full documentation about the issues are on
>>>>>> http://www.htcclassaction.org <<<<<<

I will keep you informed about the Fix status, so if we reached our goal, you will find the drivers for the Polaris here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**UPDATE**25/09/08
A Port by The 'Polaris Project P3D' team has begun and they had a breakthorough to fix the scrolling. Neos2007 created a cab which will be posted out to all testers on this project.

An updated video from Neos2007 of the non scrolling 3D acceleration can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58PFxhIVeE0

A Cab file has been generated by Neos2007 for testing FOR the team - we will release a Public Beta after some testing.
PLEASE DO NOT POST REQUESTS FOR THE CAB!

Full documentation here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...t=426314<br />

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**UPDATE**19/08/08
Updated driver package again
Full documentation here:
http://www.htcclassaction.org/driver...080819_1<br />

These drivers require a Kaiser (TyTN II) and a ROM based on the official HTC WM 6.1 update! It is extremely unlikely that these files will work out-of-the-box on the Polaris (at this time).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**UPDATE**29/07/08
Updated driver package, full-screen and Manila
Full documentation here:
http://www.htcclassaction.org/driver...080729_1<br />

NO need to install directly on Bepe's last Roms for Polaris
The provided .cab isnt working for the Polaris as on Kaiser.
Installation is successfull, but the Light.exe to proove coudlnt initiate D3D.

This needs further modify!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**UPDATE**18/07/08
OpenGL ES and D3D drivers (non-fullscreen) for the KAISER as .cab
Full documentation here:
http://www.htcclassaction.org/driver...ate_20080717_1

**UPDATE**17/07/08
TyTN II now runs D3D too!
Full documentation here:
http://www.htcclassaction.org/driver...ate_20080717_1

These Drivers for the Kaiser are a big step forward, as these could?! also be used but probably modified for the polaris.

Cookers, attention!

The show must go on

Read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=1203

**UPDATE**
its kinda last resort, but we are optimistic
Write support.ati.com a driver request

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**UPDATE**25/01/08
NO FIX but the updated CorePlayer 1.1.3 seems to play smoother because it takes advantage of Qtv video overlay API

NOTE: this software is not free! just for upgraders!!

Full documentation here:
http://www.corecodec.com/forums/index.php?topic=669.0

!!Ugraders please report if theres any improvement using this software!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**UPDATE**22/01/08

several htc support responses directs to a fix, that will be available soon
BUT
an 'official' htc response on DailyTech makes some confusion.

Full documentation about this on the bottom of the page:

I wrote to HTC, but I could imagine people thinking: this won't help .... (I also believe that it won't help, but it won't hurt either).
