Default Polaris sound volume & quality

Hi there !

I've my Polaris since one week now and I'm very happy with except with the sound output.

First, and comparing to the ELF (Touch), I find that the quality of the sound output (on the external loudspeaker) is really bad (in quality and with 2 time less in volume). Tested with a MP3.

Second, when I use the headphone, playing any sound, I've two time less volume into the headphone with the Polaris than with the ELF.

The most strange thing is that with the FM Radio I've a clear and loud volume.

Then I suppose that this problem won't come from the hardware but seem to be the same as by the past with other HTC PPC: A software (system) bug.

F.y.i, I've tested the WOW SRS application. The main difference is that the sound become much "crispy" but don't change anything on the volume.

Anyone have the same problem ? (I really hope :) )

Thanks for your feedback.

With the Radio, it is perfect (without any need to use "AudioBooster" application).

Hows the sound quality and loudness on a call on the speakerphone compared to listening to an MP3 on speakerphone?

I have a rather opposite problem,
When listening to mp3 co audioboster feel a fable,
Fm radio instead feels very low in both headphones and external

Same and much bad as on the ELF.
I also remarked that the voice sound of the TomTom isn't so good (if in this case, I find it sufficiently good).

by the way, I've tested the headset with a phone conversation, no problem, the sound is clear and sufficiently loud.

I'm trying to understand what you wrote. Seems like you contradicted yourself in each sentence.

;) Sorry for my poor English

What I would say are two things
  1. Comparing to the HTC ELF (Touch), my Polaris is really bad (volume problem) when I listen a MP3. Same MP3 tested on both Mobile (ELF & Polaris), two time more volume on the ELF than on the Polaris. Also the output of the same MP3 on the external loudspeaker of the Polaris is crappy comparing to the ELF (tested with the same MP3 file)
  2. I've also remarked that the sound of the voice of my TomTom navigator isn't so good as I can expect (but I also wrote that this point isn't the most important for me)
I've tested all what I can with a lot of tools.. The volume problem with the MP3 is really one (for me, at the moment) unsolvable problem.

I'll try to open a ticket to HTC by tomorrow and see what they told me.

Ok, thanks for the quick reply, wasnt trying to offend.

My question is more about the speaker quality in terms of actual calls. I plan to use this phone more as a phone and pda than media device. If Im on a conference call, I want to be able to hear my other party on the speakerphone pretty clearly.

You don't offend me mate ! :)

I haven't yet tested the sound of the speakerphone. I'll do some tests by tomorrow and give you a short feedback here.
