FYI,
Rogers will be releasing the Kaiser, once their marketing department sees that their stock of TyTN phone has gone low enough. kaiser has been tested and approved by Rogers Wireless new handset department. I've got a copy of their final ROM package, which you can download here: http://uploaded.to/?id=55zmsv The Name Display feature works for sure.

I am not sure about HTC's policies nor Rogers. Rogers is not advertising this phone on their website either. This firmware works... but is not that fast. I am going to see what other cabs gets installed after the hard boot, and the Name Display might be in there. Or it might be embeded in the core files/dlls. I am not sure, but I plan to install these cabs on another cooked ROM and see if the Name Display works....

I've compared this Rogers ROM with the ATT Tilt ROM that was just released a week or so ago and I notice that this Rogers ROM seems to have a few new drivers and application versions in it. Not sure what the differences are (or if I'm really interpretting the dll versions correctly) but I think I'll give this ROM a try...seeing as though I'm on the Rogers network and this ROM enables Name Display. Curious to see if it also changes any of the bluetooth funnies that I'm experiencing.
File , Rogers ROM , ATT Version 1.62.502 btfsd.dll , 1.2.31247.2 , 1.2.30477.1 btdwake.exe , 1.2.31247.1 , 1.1.26899.1 btpropext.dll , 1.2.31247.1 , 1.1.27153.1 HtcDXRender , 1.0.2007.829 , 1.0.2007.709 BTHCI.dll , 1.83.0.0 , 1.62.0.0 sdbus.dll , 1.83.0.0 , 1.62.0.0 sdmemory.dll , 1.83.0.0 , 1.62.0.0 Backlight.dll , 1.83.0.0 , 1.62.0.0 Rilphone.dll , 1.83.0.0 , 1.62.0.0

Flashed the Rogers ROM on to my HTC-branded Kaiser and kinda like it. Not really any bloat-ware...just one small "DoMore" application that links to Rogers website. After some tweaking I find the ROM is quick enough. Reception has been perfectly fine...no dropped calls so far.
Apart from the useless application mentioned above the other differences I noticed were: 1) Internet explorer start-up page changed to have a link to Rogers. The Rogers home page provides access to the internal "free use" WAP pages. See attached images 2) New Rogers Spash screen during boot-up 3) Haven't tried the Name Display feature yet...will check this out. 4) The Rogers ROM changes the hardware keyboard layout. The layout is the same as used by the AT&T Tilt and so some of the keys behave differently (for example pressing @ brings up a ! and visa-versa). To fix this problem I needed to delete the registry key HKLM>HARDWARE>DEVICEMAP>KEYBD>CWSLayout I'll keep you posted if I find anything new out.

Name Display confirmed working on this rom. The name stays in the call history too.
Name Display didn't work with S2U2 caller id yet, so you'll either have to disable S2U2 caller ID or live without it. Ms Office doesn't have one note (I don't use it anyway). HTC Home can't be changed to show only certain tab, but the icons can be changed with HHC. I'm using this on Fido, so some settings such as MMS & GPRS/3G have to be changed. Will be nice if someone start cooking with this rom ![]() |
