Default Voicemails and T-Mobile Issue

I am VERY happy with my xda Atom Life, but I am having a serious problem not getting voicemail alerts. I've read prior posts about this, and have given up expecting to find a way to get the standard "message tape" icon from T-Mobile. Feeling clever, I decided a great work-around was to go with YouMail - have my voicemails directed to the Youmail service where they in turn immediately send a standard text message alerting me that I have a voicemail. Well - wouldn't you know it - for some strange reason I don't get the voicemail text message alerts either! I DO get general text messages (friends, etc); in fact, EVERYTHING works great, but it's as if the Gods above are intent that I will never again be alerted to my voicemails by any method (T-Mobile basic VoiceMail or YouMail). Is there ANY work-around? Is there a common denominator here that I'm missing (other than I'm not getting voicemail alerts from two different services who use two different alerting protocols?) I'm completely stumped and have invested hours into this problem already.

Thanks for any guidance/ideas/clues,

Lee

Could it be that my MMS settings are set to Vodafone (Australia)? I'm in the USA. My modem configuration is correct and I breeze through the internet (via Edge) plus get emails no problem. Is it possible that YouMail sends its text messages MMS instead of SMS?

(sigh)

Oh well - I continue to miss my voicemails and have to keep calling in to see if any are waiting. I'm beginning to not like my xda anymore...

Default I have the same problem and it is driving me nuts!

I have tried all of the above. The only other option is a program called isecretary . The only realtime voice machine avail for ppc but the program is buggy and also cost minutes as it answers all calls and lets you hear the other end leave the message so you can screen the calls you want to answer and which ones you want to not answer...

Default My work-around

Finally got YouMail to work - the folks at YM tech support were very helpful, and it turned out all I needed was a reset of the YouMail account. So far it has been working perfectly for a week. Great voicemail service - and it's free! Sends me a text message immediately upon receipt of a voice message telling me who called. All it costs me is the text message - and with a text message package add-on, it's only $5 more a month.
