Good point with the signal. I will test it and let you know.

@all:
Does anybody own Just Mobile Rugged Case for HTC Prophet ( http://www.just-mobileonline.com/pro...nseries_4.html ; http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=141177 ) I mentioned before ? I am very curious if it would fit our Kaisers.

Until Pelican goes from, "Tell us the interior dimensions you'd like to have and we'll let our engineers know!" to "Tell us the interior dimensions you'd like to have and we'll MAKE IT FOR YOU", I'll keep on looking. Pelican cases are GREAT, no doubt. But, from a practical standpoint, I can't see how you would implement a reasonable and acceptable convenient access/storage of your phone with these Pelican Cases. I own several, but I use mine to store things like My Surefires, other sensitive gadgets, important external portable hard drives, my telescope and astrological bino filters, etc. For things like these, you can't beat Pelican. But, for in and out continual use, it would get real old real quick, whipping out the Pelican case to get your phone before you miss the call. Plus, I have broken a few nails just opening them up in a hurry. Not that matters to men, but for me, it’s a bitch.

Indeed a Pelican or Otterbox is overkill for everyday use...no question. I am looking at something I can throw in a small backpack and then use my BT headsets and MS VoiceCommand when I an riding or hiking.

Would probably involve puttting the phone in a bag like I did in the cradle mod and wrapping it in polymorph. I am a little concerned that if I did it, it would mould a little too well to the phone and I wouldn't be able to get it out. I suppose I could fill in the screen area with cardboard or something and tape a ridge of material on each side (where the buttons are to ensure there is a groove in the case to stop it pushing the side buttons and roller) before putting it in the bag.

I am thinking an open ended "cup" with a hole in the bottom of the cup so you can push the phone out with your finger. I think if i did it so it went in with the USB towards the bottom of the cup, the hips near the bottom of the kaiser would hold it in place until it was pushed out by putting your finger through the bottom.
Dude you are my type of dude. Making your own cases/holders. Ha I love it! Thanks for the insight on the plastick granules I was looking for something like that. Now I'm going to make my custom car mount. My problem with current factory made car mounts is that they aren't very easily placed "anywhere" you want. They are geared for either windshield or vent. I have a perfect little spot on my dash that requires a small form factor plastic holder. This is going to be fun!

All,

I think I might have just found the perfect case...for my needs anyway. Perhaps it might meet yours as well.

http://hprc-usa.com/1300.htm

Based on the internal dimensions, the 1300E will fit a Kaiser with the Seido Super Slim Rubberized hard case on as well.

I am ordering and will let you know with pictures.

That looks pretty good. Pity they don't seem to have a distributor in the UK...

My PDair aluminium case ( http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product...oducts_id=6561 ) arrived today. As I promised I am posting a few thoughts about it:
- The first surprise was that it is really light. I expected it to be a bit heavier, so I would say it's a PLUS.
- Despite being light it actually feels pretty solid. I could not imagine force necessary to break it. Another PLUS.
- Front screen cover (clear plastic) is pretty thick. I would say it's almost unbreakable (as well the case itself). PLUS.
- I'm not sure if inner lining is really neoprene (as advertised), but it seem to serve its purpose quite well. It could perhaps be a bit thicker to absorb more vibrations (remember, I plan to use this case on a bike). Neither PLUS, neither MINUS here.
- The case needs to be opened to be able to use QWERTY keyboard or touchscreen. I really like this solution for my purpose. PLUS here.
- The case doesn't cover buttons, cameras, stylus, etc (see photos on PDair site). PLUS or MINUS? I would say it depends on one's point of view. I think that at least cameras might have been protected (I will probably put a bit of thin plastic where they are), so MINUS here.
- Screw on the back side - despite being quite small - feels really solid and reliable. Included belt clip has a quite good feel as well. PLUS.
- I left the phone in the case laying on the table and someone called me. TyTN II's vibration makes A LOT noise in such situation. Not a big issue - just a minor MINUS.

A few notes about my experience with PDair. This was my first product from them and I will be buying from them in the future. The case is reasonably priced (at US $28) and they ship worldwide for free!
Packaging was perfect - I would be really surprised the case inside would be damaged.
Communication with them is fine, too - they sent a confirmation mail after ordering and another one when item shipped.

Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase (but remember that I have been using it only for a few hours yet) and would recommend it to anybody.

Now I will have to find a way to attach the case to my bike. Will keep you informed.
In the meanwhile please feel free to ask any question.

Has your reception changed at all/loss of signal bars? I am really interested in this case but am afraid it will hinder my abilities to use the gps/phone when I am in more rural areas on my bicycle.

I haven't yet have time to test it properly, but my initial feeling is that no - it does not affect reception.
Will post here after I do some test (probably during weekend).

Can you use the stylus on the screen through the plastic on the case? You said it was thick.. but how thick are we talking?
