media net is the one you want. So i wouldn't worry if there aren't more.

Thanks for finding a solution that works!!!

Can you post the file on RapidShare or on XDA's FTP site? My company blocks the 4Shared site.

Thanks Again!!

Default HTC Home Customizer Stopped

I have an AT&T Tilt with the stock 6.1 ROM. I disabled the AT&T bloatware when I installed the new ROM. I used HTC Home Customizer to customize my home. Unfortunately Weather didn't work, so I came to this thread and did this:

2) Unzip the attached file, then copy it to the windows directory
3) Soft Reset
4) Enabled HTC Home

Now HTC Home Customizer doesn't work. I have stock home with the exception of the 6th icon, but now I can't customize the home page. My local weather works great now though!!

Any ideas?

Jim

Default Customized Weather among other things

I am relatively new to these forums, so I may need extra help. I have been looking at all of these many posts in attempts to get my local weather. I read where some are actually "creating" customized locations rather than using the list which comes with the HTC Home.

How is that done? I can find it on the website, but I can't figure out how to incorporate that into the phone?

Also, I just recently updated to WM6.1 and I lost all my Voice Tags. I read that Voice Command is expected to replace that, but I can not get it to work.

Lastly in regards to the weather, I read that I should use a REGEDIT program, where is that?

Thank you.

I tried this fix, and HTC Home disappears all together. I have to restore my registry to get it to work. I have working weather, but no way to customize HTC Home now.

It is no big deal to remove programs/dlls etc... and re-install them in a particular order for me. I have no idea what that order might be as I'm not smart enough about this stuff to know which order might be key to getting Home Customizer to see HTC Home and the dll.

This is the order that I installed programs and their versions to get customized weather to work.

Quote:
1. Download HTC Home Customizer Fix Here: http://rapidshare.com/files/92813365...4.722.zip.html

2. Remove HTC_Home_PPC_Blue from Remove programs if is there. If not, go to step 3.

3. Install sdkcerts.cab

4. Install Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.814.722-schen.cab

5. Install Backlight bug fix.cab

6. Install HHCv10b5.cab
That made my already created customized weather location work. BUT!! It disabled HHC. SO I tried uninstalling/reinstalling HHC. No luck. I tried the fix mentioned above. No luck. So, it appears that using the HTCHome.dll in this thread disabled HHC all the while enabling an already created customized weather location.

I'm all ears (eyes) for any experts that might have ideas to make this work.

Jim

Default AT&T 6.1 ROM Method

Here is a method to get HTC Home Customizer and the HTCHome.dll to play nicely together on an AT&T Tilt running stock 6.1 with no bloatware installed. You must to a hard reset to get this to work so the appropriate back up warnings apply!

This method is courtesy of tbraun on the AT&T forum.

You must have the following cabs or dlls on your storage card.

a. tcmdpocketarm (Or another program that does the same thing as Pocket Commander)

b. HHCv10b5

c. HTCHome.dll found in post 54 of this thread.

How to do it:

Install all programs to the device using File Explorer to find and click on the cabs.

1. Do a Hard Reset and use appropriate techniques to ensure the AT&T bloatware was not installed.

2. Install TCM Total Commander (You can use any other program that will let you edit/move .dll files and install it here.)

3. Soft Reset

4. Install HTC Home Customizer 10b5 (Do not use 1.0 Final!)

5. Soft Reset

6. Used TCM Total Commander (Or what ever program you installed.) to rename HTCHome.dll to HTCHome.old in the Windows directory on the phone.

7. Used TCM Total Commander (Or what ever program you installed.) to move HTCHome .dll from your storage card to the Windows directory.

8. Soft reset the phone. (I had to do this twice. The first time HTC Home did not load. On the second soft reset the phone asked me if I wanted to install HTCHome.dll and I said yes. and HTC Home loaded.)

At this point, you should be able to both use HHC to edit appearance and customize weather.

Customize away and then restore/reinstall data/programs you had on your phone before. Customize some more if you want! I have not tried this yet after adding things like Kaiser Tweak, but tbraun has with no issues.

Again, major thanks to tbraun on the AT&T forum for coming up with the basic method. The hard reset is required because the AT&T 6.1 ROM version of HTC Home seems to need these items installed in this order to work. I'd tried various other orders and this one without a hard reset and HTC Home Customizer would only do one thing, or the other, appearances or weather.

Good Luck!

Jim

To create a customized database of cities use HTC Home Customizer, which can be downloaded from many locations on this site, or from my 4shared folder. Perform the following steps:

1) Make sure you have copied the patched htchome.dll file as instructed in the first post.

2) I am not sure it's necessary, but i usually disable the HTC Home plugin when making the changes.

3) Open HTC Home and navigate to the weather tab.

4) From the drop-down menu entitled "database type" select "custom"

5) Click "Enter New City" and then enter the relevant data for your city.

6) Click "Save City to Custom Database"

7) Repeat steps 4 & 5 for as many cities as you would like to add.

8) Clik and "save" and then enable the HTC Home Plugin again.

9) Your weather tab should now display your customized list of cities.

I can't seem to locate a copy of "HHCv10b5" that isn't from rapidshare or similar site - all of which are blocked at my office. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Nvm - i'm good
