Straight from the manual.... Though i have not tested it...

To perform a hard reset
1.
Pull out the stylus.

2.
With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and
ENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.

3.
Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN
and ENTER buttons until you see this message on the screen:

This operation will delete
all your personal data,
and reset all settings
to manufacturer default.
Press VolUp to restore
manufacturer default, or
press other keys to cancel.
4.
Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the
VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other

button to cancel the reset.

Does hard reset clear the on-board 4GB memory?

nope, to clear the storage, you need to use the "Clear Storage" application in the System tab in Settings

That's what I thought....but having read the spec from the other post....I am in doubt.

If it's 4GB ROM instead of 256ROM+RAM+Extra Storage.....programs like SPB Backup will be damned.

i cant see how, the 4GB is still considered a "storage card" by default. Every app i use works fine...

whoa, keep in mind if you push "volume down" button after releasing the reset button once the message appears you will hard reset and reformat the 4gb storage.

To just hard-reset push the "volume up" after releasing the reset button once the message appears on the screen

Can anyone explain to me where I can find the alleged 256M ROM ? In the RAM status, I can only see the 192MB storage+program and the other tab for 38XX MB internal storage..?
