Apparently it's related to the gradient. In WM5 the gradient is horizontal but in WM6 the Gradient is vertical. That's why it looks the way it does.

I'm trusting it's a limitation otherwise it would have been fixed by now.
This cannot be fixed. The gradient is hard coded into the dll file.

Ideas?
The Zen theme is supposed to have a flat black top bar. That is how palm designed that theme. I pulled it from the treo pro rom. The themes are working correctly.

1. I can't change to the smallest font for system font. Smallest and next to smallest are both the same size.

2. Phone definitely seems very sluggish compared to stock 6.0...are there any other tweaks i should make besides the ones already included?

3. The little square from 6.0 continues to be soooooo annoying in 6.1

4. Perhaps this is desired behavior i can't seem to get used to it and wish it was different...today screen left softkey displays both SMS and Messages...for some reason i liked it a lot better as just a direct Messages button.

5. I have to admit, i miss those envelopes in the top bar when an email or text (or some other event) arrives...any way to bring that back?

Those are just initial impressions, i'll post more as i interact more with it.
1.) The second smallest font setting is missing in this build. There may be a registry settings to fix this somewhere.

2.) I have found 6.1 to be only slightly slower than 6.0. However, I am only running a few custom applications. How much slower is it without your apps installed?

3.) Again, this is a problem with the gradient that is hard coded into the dll. It was designed for wm5. That is why it looks that way in 6.0 and 6.1.

4.) SMS is a different application than messaging. The reason for the two entries in the soft button, is to allow quicker access to both messaging and sms. If you don't like the way it's setup, you can change it by building your own custom rom. The kitchen is provided in the first post.

5.) Palm Threaded SMS does not provide a text message notification icon. Without that functionality in Palm's application, it will never show. The new email notification icon is stills shows in the top bar when you get a new email. I choose to include Palm's Threaded SMS because it works so much better than the default text messaging in 6.1. The default text messaging app in 6.1 is extremely slow. That is why Palm decided to include there own in 6.1. I am trying to keep the rom a close to Palm's as possible.

I have spent a considerable amount of time on the fonts.

To change the font or select the font:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421112

The MS registry key listing:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa911384.aspx

ING Change font, it allows you to import and change some of the font settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=451624

Lessons that I have learned.
System Font doesn't get affected if < 900
Menu Font >= 800
PopUp >= 700
OOM >= 800

If you import different fonts, you'll have to play around with the different settings.

I cannot take speed of the the latest WM6.1 build.

I'll be going to the Alltel OEM WM6 tomorrow.

The WM6.1 is unbearably slow even with nothing loaded on. Everything seems to lag

The prior non-OEM WM6 for Alltel was MUCH quicker. Hopefully the OEM Alltel WM6 will allow me to send SMS to T-Mobile. I really don't care about MMS right now. I've lived without them for so long anyways.

What tweaks or apps did u install? I have also disabled the Car Speaker crap and disabled the Voice Command stuff.

MMS isn't the only difference.. Outlook has many additional features i.e. like built in searching, press H. If you don't have it synced with anything it may not matter.

I have found out that the reason for my lag was related to the # of ghey applications I have installed.

I am still looking for a way to adjust the priority of applications. WM applications can be adjusted from 0 - 100. Adjusting the priorities of things like phone.exe / cprog.exe would provide value.

Active Stink chews up plenty of processing power!

FusionZ06, i couldn't agree with you more...i'm on Verizon. However, i don't think this has anything to do with NightRaven's work so the last thing this is is a criticism of the work he's done. My performance is SOOOO bad that i can't believe this would be a ROM he would have made to perform as mine does, nor would be as praised as it is. That said, i have NO idea what is going on with mine. The performance is the way it is with or without apps, right after the initial load and a few soft resets. And the only apps i run are like Google Maps and SPB Plus...nothing extravagant or "home cooked". Any thought on what i could have done wrong? I mean it's not exactly complicated, format card, put file there, power off/on per instructions, and wait! (ok, and soft reset a lot) Thoughts?

Been doing some more reading...the one step i didn't do that seems to be suggested in a few place is hard resetting my previous stock verizon 6.0 rom prior to flashing with NightRaven's 6.1 ROM. Could this have had any impact at all? I really don't see the relevance in this step as it's not updating any code in line like a service pack, it's completely wiping and re-installing but i'm open to suggestions...

The ROM is already MUCH faster than when this project first started out & for me is quite satisfactory. Of course not as quick as WM5 & only very slightly slower then WM6. One thing you can try is a CPU Scaler such as XCPUScaler.

I've disabled the voice command and car speaker.

How do I set the priority on applications.

I also only have personal digial clock, spb weather and aim installed that's all right now.
